Senior Vice President and President, Residential HVAC
Gary Michel is president of the Residential HVAC business at Ingersoll Rand, having previously served as president of the former Residential Solutions sector since 2011. A senior vice president of the company, Gary also serves as a member of the Ingersoll Rand’s enterprise leadership team.
In his current role, Gary has full responsibility for the management, operations and performance of Ingersoll Rand’s residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) business, which delivers reliability, comfort and efficiency to homeowners through its strategic brands, including Trane, American Standard, Ameristar and NexiaTM.
Gary began his career as an application engineer with Ingersoll Rand. He subsequently held product, sales and business management roles before moving into a series of leadership roles across various geographic and market segments over his more than 30-year career with the company.
Previously, Gary was chief executive officer of the Club Car business where his demonstrated leadership drove growth through category and geographic expansion and customer loyalty for the Club Car brand. Other leadership positions held include executive director for corporate development; president of Road Development; president of Utility Construction Equipment; and general management roles within the industrial businesses.
He leads the Ingersoll Rand Sales Excellence initiative, including the enterprise sales leadership team, and is co-lead of the enterprise sustainability work.
Gary serves on the Board of Directors for Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in Findlay, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
