DUBLIN, IRELAND (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- The Enterprise Services European-Served Area (ESA) Green Team recently held a "Green Week" at the office in Dublin, Ireland.
All employees on site took part in a number of activities throughout the week, including:
-- Day 1 - Plant a seed day: Employees were given the chance to plant seeds and nurture them to maturity on their desks. Seeds and planting materials were available in the canteen during lunchtime.
-- Day 2 - Dalkia Energy Saving Talk: The Green Team invited a representative from facilities and energy management services company Dalkia to advise employees on energy savings initiatives that can be implemented at home and at work. Leaflets also were available to employees to take home.
-- Day 3 - Reduce Printing and Recycle Stationary Day: Employees were encouraged to "Think before you print and recycle all unwanted or unneeded stationary (pens, pencils and other)." Collection boxes were set up throughout the building for employees to drop unneeded or unused stationary into for recycling. IT also set up a special see-through paper bin on the ground floor of the building to make it visible to employees how much paper the facility was not only using but also recycling.
-- Day 4 - Bike Display in Main Canteen: Famous Irish cyclist Laurence Roche was on site to promote cycling to work.
-- Day 5 - Junk Into Funk Green Day: The Green Team invited all employees to dress in a recycled outfit or dress in a green outfit to win a prize. Raffle tickets were sold on that day and prizes were handed out. Proceeds from the raffle went to the Jack & Jill Children's Foundation, which helps sick children in Ireland.
In addition, a "Tell us about your green initiatives" suggestions box was set up during the week and employees were invited to submit their green initiatives and suggestions that could be implemented at home or at work. |
