First-ever "Lighting Fair" Helps Piscataway Employees Save Energy
6/19/2009

PISCATAWAY, NJ (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- In support of our company's "Progress is greener with Ingersoll Rand" initiative, the first-ever Energy Efficient Lighting Sale was recently held in Piscataway, NJ, to educate employees about the use of Energy Star products and provide them with an opportunity to purchase energy-efficient lighting.

Sponsored by the Piscataway Green Team, in cooperation with New Jersey's Clean Energy Program and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the Lighting Sale was a great success. More than 100 employees pledged to replace at least one regular bulb in their home with a Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL). A total of 900 CFLs were purchased, which will yield more than $80,000 in savings over the life of the bulbs. Promotional CFL prices were made possible by New Jersey's Clean Energy Program and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. Use of this lighting helps protect the environment by reducing the demand for energy and also decreases the user's residential electricity costs.

Aaron Kleinbaum, vice president of Environment, Health and Safety and deputy general counsel of Ingersoll Rand, said: "We were delighted to have the energy fair to encourage all Ingersoll Rand employees to practice energy-saving efforts at home. This reinforces energy-saving efforts in our offices and operations. More importantly, it allows us to speak from experience when we encourage our customers to use Ingersoll Rand services and products to reduce energy."
