NEW YORK, NY (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) held its annual summer CEA Line Shows recently in midtown Manhattan, and Schlage used the venue to demonstrate the Schlage LiNK System. In addition to an exhibition area with more than 40 exhibitors, the event included a conference program that ran throughout the day. Schlage was one of four large exhibitors, along with Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Monster, at the event.
The Schlage/Trane team met personally with more than 40 reporters, and while the primary focus was to introduce the media to the Schlage LiNK System, the show also attracted a number of retailers, including Best Buy.
The highlight of the event was Schlage LiNK being voted the winner of the "Mobile Apps Shootout." Schlage was invited to participate in a competition during which the mobile applications, or apps, of nine companies were pitched to Peter Rojas, founder of Engadget and Gizmodo, and Michael Gartenberg, vice president of strategy and analysis at for the market research firm Interpret. To demonstrate the Schlage LiNK System, Dwight Gibson, general manager, Intelligent Residential Security, used his mobile phone to unlock a door. At the conclusion of the presentations, the audience of approximately 50 people voted via text message, selecting Schlage LiNK as the winner.
The newly created Schlage booth provided an ideal setting for demonstrating the LiNK System and all of its functionality. "Showing the light modules, cameras and recently added thermostat function in action enabled journalists to experience the system and, more importantly, grasp the concept behind it," said Ann Matheis, director, marketing communications for Schlage. "The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive." |
