MINNEAPOLIS, MN (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- Accounting and Finance personal from the Thermo King facility in Minneapolis, MN, recently volunteered at Bridging, which was founded in 1987 to "bridge the gap" between the "haves" and the "have nots."
A non-profit organization, Bridging operates 100,000 square feet of warehouse space in Bloomington and Roseville. The organization was founded on the simple concept that community resources should be shared with those in need. Its mission is to provide the economically disadvantaged with a one-time gift of quality furniture and household items that help to stabilize and improve their lives while effectively using community resources.
The 15 Thermo King employees who participated came from all functions of finance and included two summer interns. Four team members helped Bridging employees pick up two truckloads of donated furniture at people's homes, two employees helped load furniture onto trucks that were scheduled to deliver furniture and household goods to people's homes and nine put together four wall units that had been donated by a national discount store.
"After being so inwardly focused on processes and meeting deadlines, it was refreshing to focus on others in the community who could use our help," said one Thermo King volunteer, while another said, "I had a blast and would love to do it again." |
