Lopez Drives United States to Junior Solheim Cup Win in Club Car Captain's Car

AUGUSTA, GA (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- Woman's golf legend Nancy Lopez has been part of golf's most prestigious events during her 32-year professional career. But she says a highlight was captaining the victorious United States team in last month's Ping Junior Solheim Cup, where she directed her players from a specially designed Club Car golf car.

"I never got this kind of treatment when I was captain of the Solheim Cup," Lopez said at the closing ceremonies of the high-profile junior event, referring to the bright red captain’s car emblazoned with the Junior Solheim Cup logo and the American flag.

The PING Junior Solheim Cup features the 12 best female junior golfers (ages 12 to 18) from the United States against the top 12 junior girls from Europe. The event is played every two years preceding the Solheim Cup, which matches top women professionals from the United States against their European counterparts.

Lopez and European team captain Carin Koch, who made her way around the Aurora Country Club in Aurora, IL, in a golf car sporting the European colors and team logo, received their special rides thanks to Dave Nadler, president of Nadler Golf Car Sales, one of Club Car's largest distributors.

"When I heard the Junior Solheim Cup was coming to Aurora Country Club, I remembered the captain's cars that Club Car has made for the past several Ryder Cups," said Nadler, who is serving as president of the Aurora Country Club this year. "I thought captain's cars for the Junior Solheim Cup would make the event a little more special. It was a way for us to give something back to the game."
