DOHA, QATAR (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- The Trane – UAE & Gulf Office co-sponsored an Engineer's Day celebration organized by the Institution of Engineers – India (Qatar chapter) recently at a prominent city hotel in Qatar. Engineer's Day is celebrated annually to mark the birthday of the late Sir M. Visvesvarayya, an eminent Indian engineer, statesman and Bharat Ratna Awardee, the highest civilian award in India.
Considering global awareness on climate change and realizing the engineer's role in economic development and environmental responsibility, the Qatar chapter dedicated the 42nd Engineer's Day to "Engineering Solutions to Combat Climate Change."
Abhinav Goel, acquisition leader – Trane, Gulf, said, "We are very pleased to be associated with this event. Trane has been at the forefront when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We achieve this by producing energy-efficient products and working with organizations such as the Clinton Climate Initiative, which aims to assist 40 of the world's largest and most progressive cities in reducing greenhouse gas. Trane joined the Clinton Climate Initiative in 2007 as a business partner."
As a partner in the Clinton Climate Initiative, Trane provides innovative, "self-funding" energy upgrades that deliver significant energy and operating cost reductions. A Trane energy upgrade takes a comprehensive approach to building energy use – including heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and services, lighting, roofing materials and renewable – that can result in energy savings of between 10 percent to 50 percent.
The Qatar chapter has more than 450 chartered and professional engineers in its membership, including owners, directors, managers, key decision makers, executives and frontline engineering staff drawn from public, private and joint sector organizations |
