11/2/2009

DUZCE, TURKEY (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- The Security Technologies European-Served Area plant in Düzce, Turkey, recently donated obsolete die casting tools to the Düzce Vocational High School for use in training workshops.

Düzce Vocational is a local high school and an important educational center for supplying the industry with qualified operators and technicians. Security Technologies' Düzce plant has an ongoing relationship with the school, supporting its students with summer practice opportunities, on-the-job training classes and plant trips. Twenty-five percent of Düzce plant employees are graduates of the vocational school, including Tool Room Team Leader Ahmet Basihos, who suggested the idea of donating the obsolete tools.

"As an alumnus of this school, I believe it is very important that we support this local community resource, which, in turn, provides us with a skilled labor pool," said Basihos.

Added Düzce Plant Technical Manager Selcuk Gore: "We are always engaged in supporting our community and, in turn, these are actions that help our company to attract local talent."

Expressing the school's appreciation for the donation, school representative Yusuf Ugur said, "The added value of these real production tools to our training program will be considerable."
