LEED® Professional Accreditation
What is LEED Professional Accreditation?
LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP) are building industry professionals who have a strong understanding of the LEED ratings system and a passion for sustainable building. A LEED AP is distinguished as a professional with a strong commitment to green building and the skill set to steward the LEED certification process.
Becoming a LEED AP is voluntary, can earn one point toward a LEED registered project, and will strengthen a building professional’s green building qualifications. The LEED AP program is well respected within the building industry with over 43,000 people earning the credential since the program began in 2001.

Becoming a LEED Accredited Professional
Passing the LEED Professional Accreditation exam is required to become a LEED AP. To ensure the certification process is objective, the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) develops and administers the exam. Recommended LEED AP candidates should have building industry knowledge and experience working with green building professionals from multiple disciplines.
