Engineering ReLaunch

At Ingersoll Rand, our talented people are what set us apart and we're always looking for outstanding candidates to join our team.

We already offer rewarding internships and career development programs. Yet, few programs exist for professionals looking to rejoin the workforce in the critical mid-career stage.

That’s why we developed ReLaunch – a 12-week, paid professional "returnship" opportunity for engineers who have stepped away from their careers and are ready to put their passion back to work. Not all careers follow the same path, and many talented professionals step away from the workplace for a period of time. Getting back into the game, especially in an engineering or technology-related field, can be challenging. We have an opportunity to help qualified engineers in the areas of Engineering & Technology, relaunch their careers; at the same time, we are able bolster support for our projects and teams, and attract top talent in new ways.

Launching ReLaunch

We are currently recruiting ReLaunch candidates for a 12-week mechanical or electrical engineering returnship based in Davidson, N.C., and Bloomington, M.N. and a 12-week electrical, software, or computer science engineering returnship based in White Bear Lake, M.N. all starting in September 2019.

Who Qualifies?

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering work experience
  • BS or higher in an engineering field (mechanical, electrical, software preferred)
  • Voluntary career break for 2+ years
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in returning to a full-time role in engineering

What Will They Do?

This 12-week program provides professional development, mentoring, training, and networking for individuals ready to re-enter the workforce. ReLaunch professionals will work with senior engineers on challenging projects, tied to Ingersoll Rand's current products and new products. Responsibilities may include work in the following areas: component design, idea generation, project management, lifecycle engineering activities, quality improvements, engineering process development and improvement, and test objective setting and methodology. Participants will gain exposure to design intent and performance as well as an in-depth knowledge of our equipment, and product development process. Upon successful completion of the program, individuals will be considered for full-time employment.
