Engineering Week 2017

Hillary Halstead, Parts Management Leader, Engineering

Why are you proud to be an engineer?

I am proud to be an engineer because engineers do great things! Engineers apply scientific theories to the real world, making dreams and ideas into reality. Participating in making a vision come to life is an experience that can’t be matched.

Why do you love engineering?

Engineering gives me many opportunities for problem solving. I enjoy analyzing the situation to determine the root cause, developing a correction plan and implementing the solution. Throughout my career, I have been able to apply problem solving to a variety of applications and therefore never get bored.

Why are you proud to be an engineer?

Engineering has historically created great new technical solutions to improve our world, as well as make jobs and tasks easier with breakthrough technologies. I’m proud to be a small part of that continuing technical process to “make a difference” by creating new engineering solutions that benefit many.

Why do you love engineering?

For me, one of the most appealing aspects of engineering revolves around development of innovative new ideas and technologies that ultimately lead to improved “real world” design solutions for our customers. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing a design you’re responsible for migrate from clean sheet to final commercial product.

Why are you proud to be an engineer?

I am proud to be an engineer because I find it very challenging at times because I am faced with real world challenges that have impacts which are felt around the globe

Also because there are very few females in the industry I feel like I can make a difference and help bring more women in.

Why do you love engineering?

I love being an engineer because I love design and creating and improving products

I get to work on making products more efficient which impacts the environment less.... we are fortunate at Ingersoll Rand to be able to do that because every small effort regardless of the industry adds up. We are also producing products that provides jobs all over the world..... (Designing and producing) not just through the people we hire but the supply chains that are created for us.... hence driving the economy and provide better standards of living.

Katie Davis, Director Engineering, Engineering Operations Excellence, Engineering

Why are you proud to be an engineer?

I am proud to be an engineer because it is a profession of “service before self.” In giving of myself and my talents, I am able to impact the world we live in by helping make the lives of others easier and more comfortable.

Why do you love engineering?

My love for engineering started when I was very young, as I enjoyed building things with my father. I used the skills I developed when I was young, to grow a career where I could continue to build and bring my designs to life. Engineering is my passion.
