In fact, you may have heard of one specific tool used by professional racing teams, since North Carolina is home to NASCAR, the Thunder Gun, an impact wrench used by professional NASCAR Teams on race day. This is one of many items produced onsite in Southern Pines. The product costs around $1,500 and produces roughly 1,000 lb-ft of torque and 15,000 rpm - Impressive!
Southern Pines is always evaluating their facility and brainstorming ways for process improvement- they currently have 4 active Value Streams under formal transformation with all leaders engaged in the transformation activities. They also have courses for continued education around Lean Manufacturing offering the 9 Step Problem Solving Training and Intro to Lean Training onsite.
Southern Pines takes part in community involvement with United Way, Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Amazing Health Race, Heart Health Awareness, Adopt a Highway, and Wounded Warrior. They take part in the Tools for Schools Campaign and sponsor 6 schools in Moore County and the surrounding area, and partner with the Sandhills Community College to successfully obtain grants to fund new trades building.
