For Valentine’s Day, we at Ingersoll Rand celebrate the love story of the Martin Family. David Martin, Marketing Engineer, and his wife Mindy were married in 2003 and always knew they wanted a family. They started trying to expand their family through fertility treatments, but after 13 years of negative tests and heartache they turned to fostering three siblings, but the children we eventually placed with family members. It was at this point David and Mindy knew their hearts were in adoption, and in October of 2018 the Martin Family was matched!
In January 2019 the Martin’s received a phone call from the birthmother that she was in early labor, so they jumped in the car and drove ten hours in a blizzard. Once they arrived they were able to be in the room for their daughter Zandria’s birth. Spending the next two months in the NICU, David was grateful to work for a company that supported him not only financially with the adoption assistance program, but also with the time off he needed to bond with his new little girl through our parental leave policy.
David said, beaming with pride, “having leave was huge! The fact that I was able to spend every day in the hospital with my baby girl was everything. We really got to bond. The bond stuck so much that she is a daddy’s girl. Her first words were DaDa.”
Happy Valentine’s Day from our Ingersoll Rand family to yours!
