As a Remote Service Technician, I repair, service and install compressed air equipment for customers who are not located near one of our Ingersoll Rand Customer Centers.  I like working with my hands and with tools, and I get a lot of satisfaction from troubleshooting equipment that may not be funcitoning mechanically or electrically as it should.

Working with Ingersoll Rand has given me the expert training and the opportunity to work on numerous types of compressed air equipment, while meeting a wide variety of people. My roles here have included Field Service Technician and Customer Center Service Manager, and I am working toward achieving my goal of becoming a Master Service Technician.

I’ve found that being respectful and courteous, and listening to a customer’s needs and working with them to resolve the problem, will lead to a loyal customer and a trusting friendship. I had a new customer call and tell me he was tired of the problems he always seemed to be having with his current service provider. After spending a day and a half on the customer’s site, and talking to him and his team about recommended changes, they said I had done more for them in those two days than their now former service provider had done for them in almost two years.

Ingersoll Rand treats me in the same way that I treat my customers. I can always get the support I need with any problem that arises, and it’s a strong company who provides its employees with good pay and great benefits.

Senior Field Technician
Employee since 2006

After 20 years of security installation and service experience with another large global company, I decided to join Ingersoll Rand. I chose to come here because it was clear that I would have opportunities to work with cutting-edge security technologies- the most high-tech systems and devices available. I had also heard that the work environment here is very professional and customer-oriented, and that interested me.

As a Senior Field Technician, I service and install access control and CCTV systems. I also install computer software, troubleshoot service and installation issues, and train customers on the use of our systems. I’ve also had the opportunity to project-manage subcontractors on large installation jobs, and help our sales staff with the design of systems that will best fit our customers’ needs.

I recently had a customer call me to personally thank me for the CCTV system we had recently installed at his facility- a public library. The new system had helped in an arson investigation at the library. Receiving that call and hearing the customer’s gratitude gave me such a sense of accomplishment- I don’t think I’ve ever felt more proud of what I do.

I’ve found that Ingersoll Rand is an outstanding company with values and goals- and a shared work ethic- that are above and beyond any other company that I have worked for. My career goals are to become a Project Manager, or perhaps a Regional Trainer for our systems and for new products. I’m also interested in working in new product development. With Ingersoll Rand, the idea of advancement is an achievable goal.

I provide field services for the Trane® Service Group. I’m on the front line with customers, and it’s my role to be a reliable service technician, and to build relationships with customers in need.

I chose to work with Ingersoll Rand and Trane after having a very good experience with a group of Trane experts doing work at a military base on which I served. I could tell that Trane would be a good company to work for when my military career came to an end- this is a group of people who always thrive and take care of each other.

Working here has given me a different perspective on problem-solving other than the military way of thinking. Before working here, I didn’t really understand how a civilian corporation does business.

My goal is to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and ultimately work in research and development. I believe that this is where I can achieve my career goals. The company has the resources and the desire to help me grow, and it is developing me as a better technician.
