BEIJING, CHINA (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- Two experts from our Security Technologies China organization were invited to participate in a recent "Architects’ Salon" meeting at the Liu Xiaozhong Studio of the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design & Research (BIAD). The salon was attended by famous architectural designers or general architects from BIAD, the China Architecture Design & Research Group, the Beijing Urban Engineering Design and Research Institute and the Radio, Film and Television Design Institute. All guests listened carefully and respectfully to each other and put forward suggestions in a relaxed atmosphere.
Among the topics discussed by the participants were the YuShu earthquake, green architecture, campus accidents and the social responsibility for architects and designers to incorporate security and safety into their designs.
David Zhu Daoming, Architectural Hardware Consultant and China technical support director for Security Technologies, explained the hardware regulations of ANSI and UL and the Chinese GB standards drafts. Security Technologies is participating in the creation of standards for fire resistant doorsets, panic exit devices operated by horizontal bars and the general technical requirements for emergency exit control devices. He shared his concerns and suggestions on the placement of emergency exits at shopping malls and other business buildings. Regarding the conflict between property and life, he insisted that life safety should always be the highest priority.
Peter Song Quan, North China sales leader for Security Technologies, emphasized that Security Technologies is ready to participate in pilot projects to support architects in the formulation of building security designs that improve building management efficiency and building security and life safety.
