The press release highlighted ComfortLink's 7-inch touchscreen interface that "eclipses the competition in ease of use and clarity of information—which is key, because the device has so much data to give."
“The ComfortLinkII is certainly a breakthrough innovation, and we are incredibly proud of the Residential Solutions team for bringing it forward,” said Vice President of Marketing, John Evans. “The new product will become part of our Connected Home Solutions offerings, focused on helping consumers use technology tools to better manage their homes.”
During the selection process, editors of Popular Mechanics partnered with a wide range of experts to choose worthy nominees. The panel of judges included astronaut Buzz Aldrin, MIT's Amy B. Smith and Mythbuster Jamie Hyneman.
A ceremony to highlight winners took place at Hearst Tower in New York City on October 5.
