Consumer feedback, internal adjustments help us better position innovative product to more consumers
CARMEL, IN (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- Consumers looking to purchase a Schlage LiNK™ remote wireless entry/home-management system will now have the benefit of a free two-month trial period as well as a significantly lower monthly subscription fee. The new fee is $8.99 a month, down from $12.99 a month, for a savings of 30 percent.
Current subscribers will not see a change to the level of service that they have come to expect from Schlage LiNK. For the new $8.99 a month, subscribers will receive the same functionality that they currently enjoy with their Schlage LiNK System, such as text message alerts when specified user codes are entered at the lock, access to live video from their Schlage® cameras and the opportunity to save money by adjusting their Trane® Remote Energy management thermostat from the mobile and web interfaces.
New subscribers will still have to input their credit card information and select a billing plan when they go online to set up an account, but they will not be billed until the third month. Annual subscriptions have been reduced to $99, giving consumers 12 months of service for the price of 11 months. All current LiNK subscribers have been informed of the new pricing via e-mail.
“We’re listening and learning from consumers with our emerging products like Schlage LiNK,” said Dwight Gibson, who leads Residential Solutions’ Connected Home Team. “In combination with some efficiencies around how we manage the development of this solution set, we have heard from the marketplace that our monthly fee may not be in line. We’re listening. We’re making changes. It’s a good lesson for us, and one we’re hopeful will help us drive penetration of this unique and innovative solution.”
Added Paige Muhlenkamp, Schlage brand manager, “The trial period will also help eliminate hesitations, allowing consumers to try out and enjoy the benefits of Schlage LiNK before committing to a monthly subscription. We’re really excited about this change because it will allow more people to experience Schlage LiNK.”
