Ingersoll Rand India's Sahibabad Plant Receives Manufacturing Excellence Award

Further evidence of our company's commitment to achieving manufacturing excellence was received recently when our plant in Sahibabad, India, was awarded a Silver certification in Manufacturing Excellence by Frost & Sullivan. The industry analyst firm presented the certification after completing an assessment of the manufacturing capabilities and global competitiveness of Indian firms to acknowledge those facilities that have achieved and sustained manufacturing excellence.

Historically, only about 30 percent of companies assessed are awarded a certification. The Sahibabad plant was rated highly on parameters such as Safety and Environment, Internal Competence and Leadership Commitment, among others. The plant was assessed in September 2010 and the certification announced in October 2010.

Certification in the Silver, Gold and Platinum categories is based on the score achieved in an assessment of 14 parameters:
1. focus on customers
2. orderliness, safety and environment
3. visual management
4. scheduling systems
5. layout and material-handling systems
6. inventory management
7. internal competence
8. asset care
9. operational flexibility
10. supply chain
11. quality systems
12. innovation
13. process complexity
14. leadership commitment

Congratulating the team, Rajesh Chawla, head - Operations for Industrial Technologies India, said, “Manufacturing excellence continues to be our priority at Ingersoll Rand. This certification is a further acknowledgement of our progress in this area from the industry. We will sustain our efforts and strive to win the Gold and Platinum certification in future.”
