885 pounds of supplies, over 4000 pieces collected for United Way
In August, our Tyler location collected over 4,000 school supplies (885 pounds) for children in need in the Tyler-Smith county area. The drive was coordinated by Marilyn Rutherford, who serves as the company’s loaned executive for United Way.
Rutherford held nine hourly United Way rallies and one salaried rally to communicate the need for school supplies in the community. Tyler employees stepped up to the challenge and filled their boxes to the brim.
"Mike Swift and Dale Green issued a challenge: the team that collected the most school supplies competed for a pizza party," Rutherford explained. "It was a great way to get people pumped up about the cause," she said. James Kistler's team came out ahead with a whopping 310 pounds of donations.
Congratulations to the Tyler team for making such a worthy contribution to their community. To find out how to make a difference in your area, check out the United Way website.
