Golf’s prestigious biennial Ryder Cup is one of the most complicated global sporting events to organize. But Club Car, the official golf car supplier of every European-based Ryder Cup match since 1997, has proven year after year that it can handle the logistical pressures – and 2018 will be no different.
This year’s Ryder Cup takes place September 28-30, and Club Car will be there with a fleet of 550 golf, utility and transport vehicles. A mix of Club Car Carryall 500 and 700 and four-seat Transporter vehicles will help the 180 greenskeepers navigate the host course, Le Golf National, quickly and efficiently.
"The Club Car turf utility vehicles will play a key operational role during the week of the event, as we move our vast team of greenskeepers around the course before play starts each morning,” said Alejandro Reyes, Le Golf National course manager.
The Ryder Cup is using additional Club Car vehicles to provide crucial operational support for the mass of staff and volunteers involved in the staging of the event. They will also use them for security details and the transport of VIPs and television crew who are responsible for supplying photos for millions of viewers around the globe.
"Club Car also provides the European and U.S. teams with seven specialty vehicles each, including the traditional captains' cars, said Marco Natale, vice president, Club Car – Europe, Middle East & Africa. “These cars enable the squads' skippers, vice-captains and support staff to expertly navigate the course, in order to keep up with each day's play.
"These unique team vehicles are custom designed and bedecked with the iconic patriotic branding for European Captain Thomas Bjørn, U.S. Captain Jim Furyk and their vice-captains," Marco said.
Beyond the Ryder Cup
The 2018 captain's cars, as well as the remainder of the team fleet, are Club Car’s Tempo golf cars with some special modifications. The cars feature new alloy wheels, premium comfort seats and Club Car's proven engineering. They are painted in the iconic team colors and include seats specially embroidered with the European and U.S. team flags.
"Our expertise and proven track record demonstrates that Ryder Cup Europe can put its trust in us to drive the on-course logistics required at Le Golf National – and help deliver golf's greatest team event,” said Kevin Hart, sales director Golf for Club Car Europe, Middle East and Africa.
