Indianapolis Von Duprin Plant Hosts U.S. Congressman Dan Burton

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- U.S. Congressman Dan Burton included Ingersoll Rand’s Indianapolis plant as part of a recent tour of key manufacturers in his Congressional district. Joining Plant Manager Wayne Bewley to host the two-hour visit was John Conover, president of the Security Technologies Sector, and Tim Eckersley, president of the sector’s Americas region.

Congressman Burton toured the production lines for Von Duprin, Ives, Falcon and Glynn-Johnson security hardware products, which include new high-speed machining capabilities as well as a robotic polishing line. Bewley showcased some recent environmental projects, including:

  • The plant’s switch to a water-based lubricant application process that reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
  • A state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system.
  • How they made their packaging more green by reducing the volume of material that protects each outgoing shipment, which allows our customers to be more green by decreasing the amount of garbage they generate.

Plant employees took an active part in the visit, talking about their jobs and customer needs as the Congressman toured the 100-plus-year-old Von Duprin operation. Sector leaders also briefed the Congressman on issues and policies that can help Indiana companies succeed and grow. “It’s critical that our customers in Indiana have fewer restrictions on accessing capital, so they can keep building facilities throughout the state,” explained Conover. “We also wanted to convey how important it is for the Congressman to support legislation that focuses on safety and efficiency as they relate to facility management.”

This was Burton’s first visit to the 600-employee Indianapolis plant, and he was quite impressed regarding our efforts in the area of environmental responsibility.

“I’m proud that the Indianapolis plant team is truly embracing Ingersoll Rand’s commitment to sustainability and finding great solutions to reduce our environmental footprint. They made a big impression on an important advocate for Indiana businesses,” said Eckersly.
