HINDLEY GREEN, U.K. (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- The British Safety Council has awarded an International Safety Award to the Industrial Technologies facility in Hindley Green, U.K., following a rigorous independent assessment of the plant's health and safety policies and procedures. This is the sixth consecutive year the Hindley Green plant has been so recognized by the council, a leading health, safety and environmental training, advisory and audit body.
In order to win this prestigious award, an organization must demonstrate that it has comprehensive health and safety policies in place, a commitment from the shop floor to the boardroom to a positive safety culture and the adoption of behaviors that have safe and healthy working practices at their heart. Providing workers with the necessary skills and competence to ensure risks to health and safety are properly controlled is also vital.
More than 900 guests from around the world and from a diverse range of industries, recently came together at the annual International Safety Awards ceremony and banquet in London to celebrate achievements in health and safety. Representing Ingersoll Rand was Dave Boylin, ESH compliance manager, Global Services, European-Served Area for Industrial Technologies.
Speaking at the awards banquet, Julie Nerney, chief executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated the winning organizations on their success in achieving high standards of health and safety in their workplaces, thereby helping to prevent injury and ill health. “This is the British Safety Council's 52nd International Safety Awards banquet, which provides us with the opportunity to congratulate both those here with us tonight and all of the unseen heroes – those winning organizations unable to join us at tonight's celebration and the thousands of workers who have played their part in managing risk to their own and their colleagues' health and safety in the workplace. Well done.”
