Interflex donates laptops to school in south India

MUDIGUBBA, INDIA (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- Security Technologies' Interflex business in Germany recently donated five gently used laptop computers to a school for underprivileged children in south India.

Amar Bedi, a consultant to Interflex, delivered the laptops to the Shanti Ananda English Medium Upper Primary School in Mudigubba, Andhra Pradesh. The school provides a free education to 108 students in kindergarten through the seventh grade.

"This donation strongly reflects the social commitment of our organization," said Bedi. "Now the school's computer education will be much more effective with seven laptops, as before the students had to share two laptops."

Bedi, who has been personally supporting the school since 2003, also presented the school with a solar cooker. The school is in a dry area and residents must travel far to procure wood for cooking food.

Shanti Ananda, which means “Peace” and “Happiness,” is primarily maintained by donations from Germany. In October 2009, Helga Shanti Fründt – a teacher and social therapist from Germany – assumed responsibility for the school. For more information on the school, contact Fründt at Helgafruendt@gmx.de.
