Security Technologies Gets in the Game at National Sports Security Conference

NEW ORLEANS, LA (INGERSOLL RAND NEWS SERVICE) -- Security Technologies employees played key roles in the recent First Annual National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) Conference in New Orleans, LA. Presented by the University of Southern Mississippi and the Center at NCS4, the conference focused on the theme “Balancing Safety, Security and Spectator Experience” and included addresses by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Mark Moran, director of business development for Security Technologies – Metro New York, served as master of ceremonies for the conference, attended by more than 400 collegiate and professional security officials. Moran serves as chair of the NCS4 Board of Advisors, which consists of security and facility directors from professional and collegiate sports organizations, the DHS and other sports industry service providers.

The conference included a trade show where employees Bob Bazemore, director, East Region, Education Market from Security Technologies’ Education Solutions group, and Bob Gover, Julie Davenport-Beach and Curt Crick from the Security and Safety Consultants South office showcased the sectors’ leading security products and solutions. “We considered this a highly successful conference with great leads,” said Bazemore.

Darren Blankenship, vice president and general manager of the sector’s Commercial Americas Integration team, concluded the conference with the presentation of the National Sports Security Distinguished Leadership Award to U.S. Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Congressman Bennie Thompson from Mississippi and NFL Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich. The elected officials helped provide funding for a training program for more than 5,400 key security decision makers at NCAA universities and colleges. Ahlerich was recognized for his participation as a founding contributor to the center. The awards were designed by Tim Righter, Security Technologies’ marketing specialist.

NCS4 Director Dr. Lou Marciani expressed his gratitude to Security Technologies for its help with the conference, and its contributions to the NCS4 Center and Laboratory initiatives. “We could not have accomplished what we have done to date,” he said, “without Ingersoll Rand's expertise, insights and support.” The Center at NCS4 is a leading-edge organization in the study of techniques to mitigate security risks inherent with large spectator sport venues.
