Our Security Expertise Kept Shanghai Expo visitors Safe

The final attendance totals are in, and the just completed 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China, drew more than 300,000 people daily to the expo site and city. Helping to protect those visitors, and local citizens, was our Systems Integration China business.

In the past year, the Security Technologies business completed more than 60 video surveillance system projects in the city. And to make sure those systems ran smoothly during the Shanghai Expo, which ran May 1 through October 31, 2010, our engineers worked around the clock.

Within the expo park, more than 300 cameras monitor 34 four-way intersections, 28 T-intersections, the areas around major buildings and all entrances and exits, including the subway station and highway tunnel leading to the site. All the cameras connect to five police stations for central management, video storage and video display, as well as Shanghai's Public Security Bureau and the Expo command center.

“This project was very challenging, but we conquered it and gained the customer’s recognition and satisfaction through our team’s great efforts,” says Jenny Wu Dong, general manager of Systems Integration China. “Thanks to all our employees for their tremendous efforts, and congratulations to them on this outstanding success. The Shanghai Expo 2010 becomes another milestone of our company, and joins our list of prestigious projects, including the Six Nation Summit and Beijing 2008 Olympics. This project once again highlights our leading position in the security system market in China.”
